Rookie Jemalyn Menor delivered an all-around performance to power University of Perpetual Help to a 25-10, 19-25, 25-22, 25-19 victory over San Sebastian College in Season 100 National Collegiate Athletic Association women’s volleyball tournament yesterday at the Jose Rizal University Gym in Mandaluyong City.

Menor posted 20 kills and an ace for a game-high 21 points to help the Lady Altas post their sixth straight win midway into the preliminaries of the country’s oldest collegiate league.

Aside from Menor, who also played for the Bacoor Strikers in the Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association, Daizerlyn Uy, Winnie Bedana and Shaila Omipon also delivered, finishing with 15, 13 and 12 markers respectively to underscore the Lady Altas’ well-oiled offensive assault.

Fianne Ariola was also impressive, finishing with 25 excellent sets while Marian Andal and Joanna Denise Lozano submitted 17 receptions and 13 digs, respectively.

Veteran Katherine Santos fired 22 points to lead the Lady Stags, who fell to a 3-2 record in the team standings.

Meanwhile, defending champion Altas recorded their fifth win after posting a 25-20, 25-19, 25-18 triumph over the Golden Stags in the men’s division.

Middle blocker KC Andrade shone, delivering 10 hits, four blocks and an ace for a 15-hit effort while Kobe Taguba and Jeff Marapoc chipped in 13 points apiece for Perpetual, which bounced back after suffering a five-set loss to Arellano University recently.

Dexter Arrozado also submitted solid numbers with 10 points while playmaker Klint Mateo recorded 21 excellent sets in 67 attempts.

Kyle Villamor led the way with 14 points for the Golden Stags, who suffered their fourth win in five matches.
