Japanese Ambassador Endo Kazuya paid a courtesy call on Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo on 18 March 2025, where they discussed the strong ties between Japan and the Philippines, ahead of the 70th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations next year.
The two leaders reflected on the importance of the rule of law, a shared value between the two countries, and expressed mutual appreciation for their continued cooperation.
Chief Justice Gesmundo also expressed gratitude for Japan's support in various initiatives, including the construction of the Philippine Judicial Academy Training Center in Tagaytay City and the JICA short-term training program. Both officials agreed to continue strengthening the collaborative relationship between the two nations.
