Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has reinforced its commitment to public safety by joining the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in its fire safety and awareness campaign for Fire Prevention Month.
Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga visited the San Lazaro Fire Station in Manila, where he assured Manila Fire District Fire S/Supt. Aristotle Bañaga and the fire station team of Meralco’s continued support for the BFP’s initiatives. He emphasized the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance emergency response and promote fire prevention in its service areas.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to support the government in promoting public safety and protecting lives and properties of the communities we serve. Meralco stands alongside the BFP in championing fire prevention not only during Fire Prevention Month but all year-round,” Zaldarriaga said.
As part of its fire safety initiatives, Meralco operates the Meralco Rescue Fire Sub-station, which serves as a fire emergency response center, a training facility for firefighters and rescue teams, and a direct line for BFP coordination to ensure swift power shutdowns in fire-affected areas.
For his part, Bañaga reaffirmed the BFP’s readiness to respond to emergencies, stressing the importance of fire prevention measures, especially during the hotter months when fire incidents statistically increase.
The BFP’s fire safety campaign includes various activities aimed at educating the public on fire prevention and mitigation, empowering communities to adopt proactive safety practices.
