Paolo “Paowee” Tantoco, a member of the prominent Tantoco family with ties to the Rustan’s Group of Companies, passed away on 9 March 2025 while on a trip abroad. His parents, Rico and Nena Tantoco, confirmed the news, expressing their grief and requesting prayers. Arrangements are being finalized to bring him home to the Philippines.
He was married to Dinah Tantoco, the social secretary of First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos.
In an official statement, his family shared their sorrow:
"It is with great sorrow that we share the sudden passing of our son Paolo ‘Paowee’ Tantoco. We are devastated by our loss and kindly request your prayers for Paowee and our family. We will share more details as we finalize arrangements for bringing him home to the Philippines." – Rico and Nena Tantoco
Friends of the family have expressed their condolences on social media, including Bea Jacinto, daughter of musician Ramon "RJ" Jacinto.
Paolo’s passing follows another recent loss in the Tantoco family.
Zenaida "Nedy" R. Tantoco, chairperson and CEO of Rustan Commercial Corporation and Stores Specialists Inc., passed away at age 77 on 8 February 2024.
