Burgos, Ilocos Sur — Farmers in Burgos just got a major boost, thanks to a fresh fleet of FUSO Canter trucks. On 15 February 2025, during the town’s annual Farmer’s Day celebration, Sojitz Fuso Philippines Corporation (SFP), in partnership with HMEN Motors — FUSO Pangasinan, turned over 27 brand-new FUSO Canter FE73 drop-side trucks to the local government.
Each of Burgos’ 26 barangays will receive a truck, while the remaining unit will be used for municipal services. These vehicles will help local farmers transport their crops and equipment more efficiently, supporting agriculture — an industry that keeps the town and the larger Ilocos Sur economy thriving.
The FUSO Canter FE73 is built for tough agricultural work. With a gross vehicle weight of 4,490 kg, it’s designed to handle the transport of produce, materials, and farming tools with ease. Under the hood, it packs a 4P10-WAT2 Common Rail Turbocharged Intercooled Diesel engine, delivering 131 PS of power and 350 N-m of torque — ideal for hauling rice, vegetables and other goods.
The drop-side truck bodies, which meet FUSO’s strict durability standards, make loading and unloading hassle-free, ensuring that farmers have a reliable and practical workhorse for their daily operations.
SFP president and CEO Yosuke Nishi expressed his gratitude to Burgos LGU for choosing FUSO as a partner in strengthening the town’s agricultural initiatives.
“We would like to thank the local government unit of Burgos for choosing FUSO as your partner in advancing our agricultural operations. We are proud to support our local farmers, who play such a vital role in the economy of Burgos and Ilocos Sur. Moving forward, we remain committed to providing solutions that drive progress and empower various industries. We look forward to supporting more initiatives for many years to come. Ayos, Burgos!” Yosuke Nishi, SFP president and CEO, said.
