Senate Committee on Health Chairman Senator Bong Go has called on local leaders to take charge in ensuring clean communities and safeguarding public health as dengue cases continue to surge across the country.
Speaking recently at the birthday celebration of Pampanga Vice Governor Lilia Pineda, Senator Go stressed the urgent need for proactive dengue prevention measures. He took the opportunity to engage with barangay officials and provincial leaders, expressing his gratitude for their efforts in delivering essential government services and reminding them of their critical role in protecting their constituents from life-threatening diseases like dengue.
“Unahin natin ang kalusugan ng ating mga kababayan. Bilang mga lingkod-bayan, mahalagang tiyakin natin na malinis ang ating kapaligiran upang maiwasan ang pagdami ng mga lamok na nagdadala ng dengue (We must prioritize the health of our countrymen. As servant leaders, we must ensure that our environment is clean and sanitized to prevent the proliferation of mosquitoes that bring dengue),” Go said.
Go also took a moment to personally greet Vice Governor Pineda on her special day and commended her for her effective healthcare initiatives, which have significantly benefited the people of Pampanga. He acknowledged the province’s commitment to public health and its continued efforts to address pressing health concerns.
Joining the event were Governor Dennis Pineda, Congresswoman Anna Bondoc, and former President and current Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Their presence underscored a united front in strengthening public health initiatives and community-driven dengue prevention programs.
With the threat of dengue on the rise, Senator Go reiterated his call for local leaders to remain vigilant and ensure their communities are free from mosquito breeding grounds. He emphasized that prioritizing health is not just a responsibility but a duty that directly impacts the lives of their constituents.
As the country grapples with increasing dengue cases, Go remains committed to advancing healthcare reforms and strengthening disease prevention efforts to protect every Filipino family.
