Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija - Six people died while four others sustained injuries after the tricycle they were riding fell into an irrigation canal in Barangay Baloc, Sto. Domingo, on 16 January 2025.
In a belated report from the Nueva Ecija Police, the victims were identified as passengers of a Kawasaki Bajaj tricycle heading home to Sitio Buted, Barangay Mayantoc.
While traversing the road beside the irrigation canal, the metal bar connecting the sidecar to the motorcycle disconnected, causing the driver to lose control and veer into the canal.
Two witnesses from Barangay Baloc, identified as Fernando Maducduc and Joel Trinidad, saw the incident and attempted to rescue the victims but were swept away by the strong current and drowned.
The fatalities, all residents of Sitio Buted, included driver Angelica Cinense and children Rengie Cinense, Queen Joy Arciaga, and Rhian Cinense.
The survivors were identified as Queenie Arciaga, Jeanne Arciaga, Jazzy Cinense, and King Jay Arciaga.
