Quezon City Police District (QCPD) acting director Col. Melecio Buslig Jr. on Thursday said a suspect in the 5 January kidnapping and murder of a businessman has also been identified as responsible for the death of a person who went missing in 2022.

Buslig told DAILY TRIBUNE that the mother of the missing person contacted the QCPD on 13 January after seeing news reports about the arrest of a certain Noli Banegas Cape in connection with the kidnapping and murder case.

The mother, who suspected Cape might have information about her son’s disappearance, told police that her son, Noel, had last been seen leaving their home in Caloocan City on a black Honda Beat motorcycle.

Following this information, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU), led by Maj. Don Don Llapitan, confronted Cape, who eventually confessed to the crime. He led the CIDU team to Pangarap Village in Caloocan City, where he had dumped the victim’s body.

The team conducted a search and discovered the remains in a grassy area on Casoy Street. The property owner confirmed that a male body had been found in the same location in 2022.
