A former Pasig City councilor on Thursday defended mayoral candidate Sarah Discaya from allegations that she would engage in corruption if elected.

Discaya, a businesswoman and philanthropist, is challenging incumbent Mayor Vico Sotto in the May 2025 midterm elections.

“I told people in a government socialized housing project that if Ate Sarah wins, they might be evicted. But why would that happen?” said Pasig City Lone District Representative aspirant Atty. Christian Sia.

“It’s clear that those spreading these rumors are from the opposing camp,” he added.

Sia also dismissed claims that Discaya would seek reimbursement for expenses incurred during her charity work.

He also cited that her St. Gerrard Construction Charity Foundation has been providing assistance to the needy since 2016, including medical missions and financial aid.

“How can she recover the expenses when it’s charity work? That’s the whole point of a charity,” Sia said. “I wouldn’t join a group if I knew it wouldn’t do good for the city.”

Sia argued that Discaya’s philanthropic efforts are genuine and that she has a proven track record of helping others.
