Dennis Trillo donates 'Best Actor' cash prize to PDLs
Dennis Trillo, who won the “Best Actor” award for the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry Green Bones, has donated his P100,000 cash prize to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).
The actor’s road manager, Jan Enriquez, revealed the charitable act on social media, sharing that Jennylyn Mercado instructed him to donate the prize on Dennis’ behalf during the awards night. According to Jan, the donation will support a “Tree of Hope” project at a PDL facility, helping fulfill their modest wishes.
“Thanks for your kindness, Dennis! You truly embody our movie’s main message,” Jan added in his caption.
Green Bones follows the story of prisoner Domingo Zamora (Dennis Trillo), infamous for the murder of his sister and her daughter. As Domingo's parole approaches, a newly assigned prison guard (Ruru Madrid) becomes determined to ensure he remains behind bars, driven by a personal mission tied to the case.
The film dominated the MMFF Gabi ng Parangal, bagging six awards, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Ruru Madrid, Best Child Performer for Sienna Stevens, Best Screenplay, and Best Cinematography.
The MMFF will run until 7 January 2025.
