BAGUIO CITY — The City Government of Baguio is reminding residents and visitors to observe local traffic rules and regulations during the holidays to avoid disruptions.

The Baguio City Public Information Office (PIO), under the City Mayor's Office, reminded the public of Ordinance No. 001-2003, or the Number Coding Ordinance, which allows the suspension of the number coding scheme only by Executive Order during calamities, emergencies, or significant city-sponsored activities. The number coding scheme runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and applies to major roads in Baguio’s central business district. Tourists are exempt from the coding ordinance, which prohibits vehicles with plate numbers ending in:

  • 1-2 on Mondays

  • 3-4 on Tuesdays

  • 5-6 on Wednesdays

  • 7-8 on Thursdays

  • 9-0 on Fridays

There is no coding on Saturdays and Sundays.

Motorists are also reminded that motorcycles are not allowed to pass through Session Road.

In addition, the public is reminded of the provisions of the Anti-Distracted Walking Ordinance, which was approved by the city council. Ordinance No. 49, Series of 2019, prohibits the use of mobile devices and reading materials while crossing streets or walking on sidewalks, as these activities can cause distractions and lead to accidents.

The ordinance was reiterated in Resolution 714, Series of 2024, which was signed by Mayor Benjamin Magalong on 6 December 2024.
