Senator Loren Legarda champions livelihood aid in Marinduque

Senator Loren Legarda, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) MIMAROPA and the Mogpog Central School Alumni Association Inc. (MCSAAi), has spearheaded the distribution of over ₱1 million worth of livelihood assistance to 37 beneficiaries in Mogpog, Marinduque. The initiative underscores the Senator’s commitment to empowering local communities through sustainable employment and entrepreneurship.

On 16 December 2024, tools and equipment valued at ₱989,946 were distributed to individuals engaged in various industries, including food vending, sewing, printing, bread and pastry production, barbering, and palay buy-and-sell operations. Additionally, three fisherfolk received motorized banca engines worth ₱82,500, enhancing their capacity to engage in small-scale commercial fishing.

Highlighting the importance of the program, Senator Legarda emphasized the significance of supporting local livelihoods. "Kailangang ang tamang suporta sa maliliit na negosyo na puwedeng lumaki at makatulong sa ekonomiya ng ating lalawigan," she said.

MCSAAi President Bettina Fernandez expressed gratitude to the Senator and DOLE for their unwavering support. "We’re thankful to DOLE and to Senator Legarda… This is just the start, and we’re hoping na makakatulong ito sa inyo."

One of the beneficiaries, Editha M. Loto, a 60-year-old farmer, shared her appreciation for the opportunity. "Napakaswerte ko na nabigyan ako ng ganitong pagkakataon… nagpapasalamat po ako kay Ma'am Loren Legarda at sa DOLE."

This initiative reinforces Senator Legarda’s dedication to fostering inclusive growth and providing communities with tools for sustainable development.
