CAMP BGEN OSCAR M. FLORENDO — The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1), under the leadership of Regional Director Police Brigadier General Lou F. Evangelista, has rolled out its “Ligtas Paskuhan 2024” initiative on Tuesday, 17 December, to ensure a peaceful and secure holiday season across Region 1.
With the cooperation of other law enforcement agencies, local government units (LGUs), and key stakeholders, PRO 1 has intensified anti-criminality operations and public safety measures to protect both residents and tourists during the Christmas festivities.
Key strategies include the strategic deployment of police personnel to areas of high public convergence such as malls, churches, markets, transport terminals, resorts and tourist attractions. Traffic management plans have also been implemented to guarantee smooth vehicular flow during peak hours and major holiday activities.
Police checkpoints are now in place at critical locations, while vendors selling firecrackers and pyrotechnics are under strict monitoring to ensure compliance with safety standards. Designated firecracker zones and supervised community display areas have been established to prevent accidents and enforce local ordinances.
To further enhance public safety, Assistance Hubs and Police Assistance Desks have been stationed at major thoroughfares, churches, airports, seaports and transport terminals. Meanwhile, Quick Response Teams are on heightened alert to respond to emergencies and critical law enforcement operations across the region’s four provincial police offices.
