The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is encouraging skilled professionals, including carpenters, plumbers, and electricians, to apply for skills eligibility under Category II, which qualifies them for specific government positions without the need for written examinations.
In a statement released Friday, 13 December, the CSC emphasized that applicants must demonstrate at least a year of “very satisfactory” performance under a temporary government appointment to qualify.
The eligibility, outlined in CSC Memorandum Circular No. 11, is designed to recognize the expertise of skilled workers and streamline their path to government employment.
This pathway, however, is limited to certain technical positions and does not equate to career service professional or sub-professional eligibility, which are typically required for broader roles in the civil service.
Eligible workers must also submit their application at least a week before their temporary appointment expires.
