Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Monday warned of a new modus operandi being undertaken by troll farms where they mass report an official Facebook page for alleged impersonation to take it down.
In weekly flag-raising ceremony, Sotto cited recent incidents involving the official Facebook pages of the Pasig Urban Settlements Office, Local Youth Development Office and some public officials.
The mayor compelled all offices and departments handling official social media pages of the city government to employ safety measures, such as two-factor authentication and account verification, to protect the city’s official social media accounts from these online attacks.
Sotto deemed it necessary to mention as the issue has become alarming and therefore, vigilance is a must.
He also congratulated the 55 retirees conferred with the Pasig City Government Employees Service Award, or those who reached the retirement age of 65 years old and have been with the city government continuously for at least 15 years.
Sotto assured them that their dedication and contribution to the city as government employees will forever be remembered.
He explained that the service award for retirees is a way of inspiring the personnel of the city government of Pasig to continue serving the public.
