Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and Cainta Mayor Johnielle Keith “Kit” Nieto on Thursday signed a memorandum of agreement allowing tricycles from both localities to drop off passengers across the Pasig–Cainta boundary without paying passing-through fees or transferring to other vehicles.
Under the agreement, Tricycle Operators and Drivers’ Associations (TODA) from both Pasig and Cainta will now be permitted to drop off passengers in each other’s jurisdictions — though pickup remains restricted.
Sotto emphasized that the setup will ease travel and reduce expenses for drivers and commuters. Drop off only (no pick up),” he said.
Nieto, meanwhile, praised Sotto’s governance style: “This is very spontaneous, very sincere… you will see what are his priorities in life. Third-termer, has done so much, most popular mayor of the Philippines.”
Sotto in turn said he has long admired Nieto’s leadership. “I’m not ashamed to say that your mayor is one of the people I admire and one of the people I imitate,” Sotto said.
