A man known as "Michael" was arrested on Tuesday, 12 November, by members of the Malabon City Police for the alleged rape of his niece. The arrest was part of an operation led by PEMS Edwin Castillo, team leader of the Malabon City Police Warrant and Subpoena Section, along with the Northern Police District’s District Special Operations Unit.
The suspect, identified as the sixth most wanted individual in the district, was caught at his home in Barangay Niugan. According to authorities, he allegedly committed acts of sexual abuse against his niece twice — once in March and again in August of this year. The victim, a minor, is a high school student in Malabon City.
A police report disclosed that the victim’s mother became aware of the abuse after suspecting a "secret affair" between her daughter and her cousin, which the suspect had reportedly taken advantage of. Following this, she immediately alerted the Malabon City Police.
The arrest was executed under a warrant issued by Judge Catherine Therese M. Tagle-Salvador of Malabon City RTC Branch 73. The suspect, who is a construction engineer, now faces charges under Republic Act No. 11648, addressing statutory rape, and is currently detained at Malabon City Jail.
