
Water consumers in at least 13 barangays in Cebu City is seen to benefit from the increase of water capacity of the Lusaran Bulk Water project, according to J.E. Hydro and Bio-Energy Corp. chief executive officer Engr. Joffrey Hapitan.
In an exclusive interview with DAILY TRIBUNE, Hapitan said that they have already upgraded the Lusaran Water Treatment Plant to 30 million liters per day capacity and it is ready to be supplied to the Metropolitan Cebu Water District.
JEHBEC is the operator of the Lusaran Bulk Water project which was privately-funded of P1.3 billion and the bulk of the water supply are being sold to MCWD by JEHBEC are distributed in urban barangays such as Busay, Lahug, Pit-os and Talamban and upland barangays of Budlaan, Pulangbato, Binaliw, Agsungot, Guba,Malubog, Cambinocot, Lusaran and Paril.
"Our existing delivery points are in Busay, Pit-os and Talamban. Soon to be available is the supply of potable water to Cebu Tops area," Hapitan said, adding that stub-outs along the 30-kilometer transmission pipe line were already installed to provide access to safe drinking water to several mountain barangays.
