The provincial government of Misamis Occidental on Monday declared the success of its 'Kontra Bigay' or anti-vote-buying program throughout the campaign period for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
In an interview over the local radio station DXDD, Misamis Occidental Governor Henry Oaminal said that 80 percent of local government units in the province had fully supported the program.
The Commission on Elections previously launched the Committee on Kontra Bigay to strengthen the implementation of policies against vote-buying and selling.
Oaminal said that Ozamiz City, previously placed under Comelec control due to security concerns, had fully implemented the program, recording a 99-percent compliance for the BSKE elections.
