TOLOSA, Leyte — The Department of Agriculture announced that it has turned over a total of P32 million worth of assistance to various farmers and farmers' associations in the province of Leyte at the second-leg of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair in Eastern Visayas held 23 to 24 September at the Visayas State University here.
House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and Leyte Governor Jericho Petilla led the distribution of various programs and services of about 33 government agencies in the region aimed at hastening the provision of government services and increasing awareness on government programs.
Under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Rice Farmer Financial Assistance, some 1,135 farmers received P5,000 each or a total of P5.67 million.
The local government units of Dulag and Tolosa each received P900,000 worth of interventions under the Rice-Hybrid Seeds and Fertilizer Voucher Subsidy.
The Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair in Leyte is the second leg in the region following the launching of the program at the Biliran Province State University in Naval, Biliran last 26 to 27 August 2023.
The DA regional office also provided machinery — a total of 38 units of agriculture and irrigation equipment and hauling truck from the various banner programs of the agency to concerned farmer's associations, amounting to P24.3 million.
