The Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor has fully supported the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development's implementation of the pro-poor Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program.
In a social media post, PCUP Commissioner Andre Niccolo Tayag stated the Commission's support for DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar and the flagship 4PH program.
Commissioner Tayag's pronouncement was in response to Secretary Acuzar's statement reiterating the need for all stakeholders to unite in addressing the country's housing backlog pegged at more than 6.5 million units.
Secretary Acuzar thanked PCUP leadership for its support to DHSUD and 4PH.
The DHSUD chief stressed that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s flagship 4PH program is pro-poor and designed to uplift the condition of underprivileged Filipinos, particularly the informal settler families (ISFs).
At the early stages of the 4PH, Secretary Acuzar met with various cause-oriented and urban poor groups to discuss the program and get their input.
Among those groups was the Urban Poor Action Committee, an umbrella organization of several urban poor groups; Bayan and Bayan Muna, including transport groups.
