Eala takes down French foe

Alex Eala took down France's Nahia Berecoechea, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1, in the round of 16 in the W25 Yecla women's singles tournament at the Yecla Club de Tenis in Spain early Friday (Manila time).
The match lasted for one hour and 47 minutes as the 18-year-old netter advanced to the quarterfinal.
Eala is on the hunt for her third women's singles title after winning the W15 Manacor in Spain in 2021 and the W25 Chiang Rai in Thailand last year.
Eala previously defeated Katy Dunn of England, 7-5, 2-6, 6-2, in the round of 32 lasy Wednesday.
Up next for Eala is Victoria Rodriguez of Mexico in the quarterfinal on 3 June at 12 a.m.
