Following the approval of the Magna Carta for Barangay Health Workers at the House of Representatives, a lawmaker is now pushing for magna cartas for Day Care Workers and Barangay Nutrition Scholars.
BHW Partylist Representative Angelica Co stressed that the proposed measures are key to social justice for workers at the barangay level and has merited the same resounding yesses in the House given to landmark Virology Institute and HEART bills.
Formerly the medical corps bill, the HEART bill multiplies the response team of doctors with other health professionals and public health-trained people, who have been front and center at the thick of the pandemic.
Davao Representative Paolo Duterte, on the other hand, called on the Senate to prioritize the recent House-approved magna carta for barangay health workers as this measure will assist in filling the gap in the delivery of community-based primary health care services in the country.
