Bay Area vaulted its way back to the top of the leaderboard after outlasting Magnolia, 95-89, in the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner's Cup at the Philsports Arena on Saturday.
The Dragons erupted in the third quarter, outscoring the Hotshots by 14 points in a nine-minute stretch to post their biggest lead of the game, 69-52.
Magnolia was able to recover, but Myles Powell and Glen Robertson Yang finished strong in the fourth canto to help Bay Area pick up its ninth win in 11 games in the import-laced tournament.
Powell started slow but picked up his scoring late in the second period, ending up with 32 points, including five triples.
Yang, on the other hand, battled foul troubles but was able to tally 19 markers on 9-of-14 shooting from the field while also contributing six assists, five rebounds, and two steals.
The Dragons can wrap up their campaign, securing an outright twice-to-beat incentive with a win in their final elimination round match against TNT next week.
