The Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors returns with an in-person staging of the 5th EDDYS (Entertainment Editors' Choice) on 27 November at the Manila Metropolitan Theater.

An organization of entertainment editors from major broadsheets and top tabloids in the Philippines, SPEEd held the 4th EDDYS online in 2021.

Joining the 2022 edition are Ice Seguerra as director and Boy Abunda as host.

The 5th EDDYS will have critically-acclaimed Filipino movies released on various platforms in 2021 competing in 14 categories including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress and Best Actor.

Eugene Asis, People's Journal entertainment editor and newly-elected SPEEd president, said excitement in the 5th EDDYS intensifies as awards night nears.

SPEEd will release the complete list of nominees for the acting and technical categories, along with the special awards, in the following weeks.

Among the recognitions is the Isah V. Red award, in commemoration of SPEEd's founding president, given to outstanding individuals from different fields. There are also the EDDYS Icon Awardees.

Other special recognitions include the Joe Quirino Award, Manny Pichel award, Rising Producers' Circle and Producer of the Year.

The 5th EDDYS is supported by couple Ice Seguerra and Liza Diño's Fire and Ice Media and Productions.

Also lending support as partner sponsor is Globe Telecom, with JFV Rice Mill and Bataan Rep. Geraldine B. Roman.

The auditing firm of Juancho Robles, Chan Robles & Company, CPAs, will serve as the votes auditor.

SPEEd, through The EDDYS, aims to raise the bar for Filipino filmmakers, producers, writers, actors, and other members of the entertainment industry who help create quality films that highlight their talent and creativity.
