Soldiers’ mental health concerns prioritized

Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Gen. Antonio Nafarrete urged military commanders to pay closer attention to the mental health of their personnel during a forum at Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, on 6 November.

The AFP Mental Health Lay Forum 2026 tackled nihilistic violence extremism, online grooming and school shootings under the theme “Stop the Next Shot.”

Participants and panelists discussed mental health concerns within the military during a series of discussions and an open forum.

“As members of the Armed Forces, we have a responsibility to look after our personnel,” Nafarrete said.
