Social media personality and former child star Awra Briguela has opened up about the emotional toll of constantly being judged, ridiculed, and criticized for expressing herself and living life on her own terms.

In a heartfelt Facebook post on 6 November, Awra revealed that the negativity surrounding her public image has become mentally and emotionally overwhelming, particularly when even her everyday activities become subjects of online attacks.

“I don’t think people understand how mentally and emotionally exhausting it is to be in my position sometimes,” Awra began.

She explained how difficult it has become to enjoy everyday life when people continuously find reasons to criticize her appearance, personality, and personal choices.

“Imagine waking up every day, trying to live your life, minding your own business, expressing yourself, and doing things that make you happy, only to find out that people have once again found another reason to make fun of you, criticize you, and turn you into a topic of hate.”

Despite her efforts to remain strong and convince herself that she has become accustomed to public scrutiny, Awra admitted that hurtful comments continue to affect her.

“It’s honestly so depressing. And as much as I try to convince myself na sanay na ako, the truth is, I’m not. And I don’t think I’ll ever get used to it.”

The former FPJ's Ang Probinsyano star also expressed frustration over how her fashion choices, confidence, femininity, and even moments of happiness are frequently subjected to negative reactions.

For Awra, the constant criticism has reached a point where she feels that whatever she does, someone will inevitably find something wrong with it.

“I just can’t accept the fact that everything I do has to become such a big deal. When I dress up, when I post pictures, when I express my femininity, when I feel beautiful, or even when I’m literally doing NOTHING wrong, somehow people will always find something negative to say about me.”

Awra then questioned what her critics actually expect from her, particularly when the things being criticized are simply expressions of her individuality.

“Like, what exactly do you want me to do? Stop living my life? Stop being confident? Stop expressing myself just because my existence makes some people uncomfortable?”

Her emotional statement sheds light on the struggles public personalities face beyond the glamorous images and confident appearances they share on social media.

While Awra has often presented herself as outspoken, fashionable, and unapologetic about her identity, her latest revelation shows that even people who appear confident can be deeply affected by persistent negativity.

More than expressing frustration, Awra's message raises important conversations about online bullying, respect for individuality, and the emotional consequences of turning someone's personal life into a constant target of ridicule.

For Awra, the issue goes beyond criticism. It is about being allowed to embrace her femininity, celebrate her confidence, and live authentically without having to defend her existence to people who refuse to accept her.

Her message serves as a reminder that behind every public figure is a human being who deserves kindness, understanding, and the freedom to be themselves.
