P8.5-M smuggled cigarettes seized

Law enforcement officers confiscated an estimated P8.5 million worth of illicit cigarettes and arrested a suspect during an anti-smuggling operation in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.
Joint operatives seized approximately 8,875 reams and 418 individual packs of untaxed cigarettes — including brands such as D&B, YS, and Marvels — believed to be intended for illegal distribution without required government permits.
The operation was initiated following intelligence gathered and verified by the Philippine National Police Regional Intelligence Division in the Negros Island Region regarding contraband distribution in the area.
