A barangay chief tanod and three other barangay watchmen have filed a complaint against a male employee of the Laoag City government over an alleged grave threat involving a firearm in Barangay 49-B, Raraburan, Laoag City.
Chief Tanod Anna Lissa Perez Balino, 56, married, and the three other tanods, all residents of the barangay, personally appeared before the Laoag City Police Station at about 11:15 p.m. on October 7, 2026 to report the incident.
According to the police report, the incident happened at about 10:30 p.m. on September 24 in front of the barangay hall while the complainants were on duty.
The tanods said an unidentified motorcycle rider sped past the barangay hall. A few minutes later, the suspect allegedly arrived aboard a white Toyota Fortuner and asked if they knew the rider.
The complainants denied knowing the motorcycle rider, but the suspect allegedly repeatedly insisted that they knew the rider's identity.
The suspect then reportedly left and followed the motorcycle rider but returned several minutes later and again confronted the tanods.
When the complainants again denied knowing the rider, the suspect allegedly pulled out an unidentified short firearm, loaded it and pointed it at them while threatening to shoot.
The suspect subsequently left the area but reportedly parked his vehicle under a mango tree near the barangay hall.
Fearing that he might return, the tanods decided to leave and go home, according to the police report.
Balino later recorded the incident in the barangay tanods' logbook.
Police said documents are being prepared for the filing of appropriate charges against the suspect before the proper court.
