La Union, national government discuss airport, agri-fishery port projects


Presidential Assistant for Northern Luzon ASec. Ana Carmela V. Remigio met with La Union officials to discuss proposed infrastructure and development projects aimed at improving connectivity, transportation and economic activity in the province.
Remigio paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega and Vice Gov. Eric O. Sibuma at the La Union Provincial Capitol in San Fernando City, where they discussed priority projects, including the improvement of the San Fernando Airport and the proposed Agri-Fishery Port at Poro Point.
The proposed port is expected to provide facilities for the agriculture and fisheries sectors, particularly in improving logistics, storage and the transport of agricultural and fishery products.
Officials also discussed the possible role of the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority in supporting fishery-related infrastructure and development.
Remigio expressed support for the proposed agri-fishery port and emphasized the need for continued coordination between the provincial government, national government agencies and other stakeholders to move the project forward.
The meeting also highlighted efforts to pursue infrastructure projects that could improve connectivity, create economic opportunities and support the agriculture and fisheries sectors in La Union.
