A security guard was arrested after he allegedly hit a man on the head with a .45 caliber pistol and pointed the firearm at another person during an altercation in Barangay 183, Pasay City, the Southern Police District (SPD) said Thursday.

Police arrested the suspect, identified as alias “Michael,” 43, a resident of New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City, at around 5:40 a.m. on Sept. 17.

According to the SPD, the incident happened at around 9 p.m. on Sept. 16 inside a barracks in Barangay 183, where the suspect allegedly got into a heated argument with alias “Anthony,” 35.

During the confrontation, police said Michael allegedly drew his .45 caliber Tristar pistol and struck Anthony on the head, causing injuries.

Another man, alias “Monsur,” 24, reportedly tried to intervene but was allegedly punched by the suspect, who then pointed the firearm at him.

Police said Monsur was able to seize the firearm during the struggle and threw it away before leaving the area.

The complainants later reported the incident to Sub-Station 9 (Villamor) of the Pasay City Police Station. Responding officers, accompanied by the complainants and barangay tanods, proceeded to the area and arrested the suspect.

Recovered from Michael was a black sling bag containing the .45 caliber Tristar pistol with serial number A23-19902, along with two magazines loaded with a total of 14 live ammunition.

The SPD said verification showed that the firearm was licensed and covered by a License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF), but the suspect did not have a valid PTCFOR.

The recovered firearm and ammunition will undergo forensic examination at the SPD Forensic Unit in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City. Police said the suspect will be presented for e-inquest proceedings before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office after completion of the required documents.

The suspect is facing complaints for grave threats, physical injuries, and violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act, for allegedly carrying a firearm outside his residence without a Permit to Carry Firearms Outside Residence.
