

Authorities arrested a 30-year-old construction worker classified as a high-value individual in an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay San Nicolas West, Agoo, La Union, late Tuesday night.
The operation was conducted from 9:58 p.m. to 10:57 p.m. on September 15 by the Regional Drugs Enforcement Unit 1, with support from the Regional Intelligence Division 1, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-La Union Provincial Office, Regional Intelligence Unit 1, Provincial Intelligence Unit-La Union, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit-La Union, and Agoo Police Station.
Police identified the suspect only as “M,” a single resident of Naguilian, La Union, who was listed as a PDEA target and high-value individual.
Authorities said the arrest resulted from a buy-bust operation coordinated with PDEA Regional Office 1 under Control Number 1-00-09152026-020.
Seized from the suspect were two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing about 7.4 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P50,320.
Also recovered were a genuine P500 bill used as marked money, 10 photocopied P1,000 bills used in the operation, a yellow-green Doublemint plastic box, and a black Vivo Y2 OS smartphone.
Police said the inventory and marking of the evidence were conducted at the scene in the presence of the suspect and the required witnesses, in accordance with the law. The suspect faces allegations of violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
