The Legal Office of the Cebu Provincial Government has begun investigating 15 infrastructure projects from the previous administration after finding their procurement records missing or incomplete.

Assistant Legal Counsel Romielyn Macalinao said Tuesday that the projects were implemented in 2024 and are being reviewed for possible referral to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Office of the Ombudsman.

The investigation is part of the housekeeping efforts of Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro’s administration.

Macalinao said three of the 15 projects have “completely empty” records, with no project folders or documents found. The three projects have a combined value of P7.7 million.

Two involved reinforced concrete lampposts. One covered 112 units in Asturias, Carmen, Barili and Toledo City at an estimated cost of P550,000, while the other involved 466 units in Balamban and Toledo City worth P2.4 million.

Both projects had the same contractor, whose identity was withheld.

The third project involved the concreting of a road shoulder and road section in Aloguinsan worth P4.7 million.

Another project, involving the concreting of a road section in Balamban, was valued at P1.9 million.
