A 5 percent base pay increase for uniformed personnel starting next year will boost morale and recognize the sacrifices of police officers across the country, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Sunday.

The salary adjustment is part of broader government efforts to improve compensation for military and law enforcement personnel while reinforcing professional service standards.

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has earmarked P73.7 billion for the subsistence requirements of military and uniformed personnel in the proposed 2027 national budget.

The allocation includes funds for basic salaries, personnel benefits, healthcare, modern equipment, and general operating expenses.

Under the proposed 2027 budget, the PNP will receive P242.5 billion to support its personnel and operational needs nationwide.

PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. expressed gratitude to the national government for the wage adjustment, calling it a fitting recognition of the sacrifices made by police officers.

"The increase in the salary of police officers is a fitting recognition of their selfless service to the Filipino people," Nartatez said. "We thank the national government for the continuous support that boosts the morale of police personnel who secure our communities."
