A still-unidentified woman was shot dead by a lone gunman while walking along Leongson Street in Barangay Daanghari, Navotas City, shortly after midnight on 27 August, police said on Saturday.
According to an initial police report, the victim was walking in the area when a man reportedly followed her, drew a gun and shot her at close range. She fell to the ground and died at the scene.
Witnesses identified the suspected gunman only by the alias “Kadyo,” who was reportedly wearing a black sando and basketball jersey.
Police are verifying information provided by witnesses and reviewing closed-circuit television footage from the area to identify and locate the suspect.
A recent online report also cited a shooting involving an unidentified assailant along Leongson Street in Navotas, although it placed the incident in Barangay San Roque and gave a different time.
