QC hosts ‘Takbulilit 2026’
The event also featured traditional parlor games, distributing fruits, vegetables and nutritious food items as prizes.

Around 2,000 children aged six and older participated in Quezon City’s inaugural children’s fun run on Sunday, navigating 1.5-kilometer and 3-kilometer routes around the City Hall compound.
Organized by the city government, the “QC Takbulilit 2026” aimed to promote physical activity among youth, reduce gadget screen time, and encourage healthy lifestyle habits as part of local efforts to address childhood obesity.
“The QC Takbulilit 2026 aims to encourage children to become more active, reduce their screen time, and have more opportunities to play and interact with other children as part of efforts to prevent and address childhood obesity,” the local government said in a statement.
Every participant who completed the course received a finisher’s medal and a loot bag containing a water tumbler and health supplements.
The event also featured traditional parlor games, distributing fruits, vegetables, and nutritious food items as prizes.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte participated in the run alongside Danish Ambassador Franz-Michael Mellbin, Novo Nordisk general manager Wei Sun, and local department heads.
Belmonte stressed that the initiative reflects the city administration’s broader advocacy to foster healthier family routines and curb sedentary habits among young residents.
“This is part of our advocacy to reduce children’s screen and gadget time and instead encourage them to go outdoors, socialize, and participate in various activities,” Belmonte said.
