The Cainta local government has apprehended individuals caught illegally dumping garbage along major thoroughfares in the Rizal town, with violators ordered to perform two days of community service.
Mayor Keith Nieto said the local government has intensified enforcement against roadside dumping, particularly along the Karangalan service road.
“I already gave instructions that no one should dump trash on the Karangalan service road,” Nieto said.
“I already provided a truck that will do nothing but go around in your area three times a day, so you have no reason to dump trash on the streets,” he added.
Several individuals were penalized after allegedly ignoring repeated warnings from the local government.
Nieto said surveillance cameras installed along major roads are now being used to identify violators in real time.
“At 4:13 a.m. early this morning, you threw trash on the service road... you still did it,” Nieto told one man who was caught on surveillance footage allegedly dumping garbage along the roadside.
“We already have CCTV cameras on all major highways. Apprehending violators is now real time. You got a ticket. Let's meet on Monday, you will do community service for two days,” the mayor added.
The local government has been stepping up efforts to keep major roads free of illegally dumped waste while providing regular garbage collection services to communities.
