BYD Cars Philippines gathered more than 60 Sealion 6 DM-i owners at Ayala Malls Trinoma in Quezon City to mark the plug-in hybrid SUV’s second anniversary.

The celebration took the form of a drive-in cinema night. Owners watched from the vehicles that brought them together in the first place.

Before arriving at Trinoma, participants joined a convoy from several points across Luzon. The route had stops at BYD Manila Bay, BYD Sta. Rosa and Shell Mobility Mexico Southbound, which has an ACMobility charging station.

The event placed the owners at the center of the anniversary. Their online community has grown alongside the vehicle, with the BYD Sealion 6 Facebook group now counting more than 25,000 active members nationwide.

The Sealion 6 Owners Club began two years ago as a small group where early buyers could compare their experiences.

It has since developed into one of the more active local vehicle clubs. Regular gatherings allow members to discuss operating costs and day-to-day ownership.

“Today, we’re a much larger community that is bound by a shared passion for electrified driving,” club president Edward Salas said. He added that the anniversary showed how much the group had grown since its early days.

One owner has already covered the sort of distance that usually takes several years to accumulate.

Seth Tullao bought his Sealion 6 DM-i in 2024 and has driven the stock vehicle for 77,000 kilometers. His mileage gives other owners a useful look at how the model holds up under frequent use.

BYD introduced the Sealion 6 DM-i in the Philippines as its first local model with Super DM-i technology. The system uses an electric motor and battery as its primary source of drive, while a gasoline engine supports longer trips.

A full battery and tank provide a claimed combined range of more than 1,000 kilometers.

BYD Cars Philippines managing director Bob Palanca said the stories shared by owners have helped introduce the Sealion 6 DM-i to more motorists.

He said the distributor must support that growth with dependable aftersales service as more vehicles cover longer distances.

“Our BYD Sealion 6 owners are the true heartbeat of the brand,” Palanca said. “We’re committed to matching that trust with exceptional, reliable aftersales support as this community continues to grow.”

After two years, the Sealion 6 DM-i has built an owner base that offers practical feedback on fuel use and long-term reliability. The Trinoma gathering gave those drivers a chance to meet away from their online group and celebrate the vehicle that started the community.
