Floods do not respect municipal boundaries, and Cebu’s provincial government wants its response to work the same way.
BAIC Philippines has opened a dealership in Cebu City as the automaker expands its network in the Visayas and makes its vehicles more accessible outside Metro Manila.
BAIC Cebu began operations on 6 August under Pacific Autoworld Inc., a local dealer group that has partnered with the brand for the new outlet.
The dealership is located at the corner of Gov. M. Cuenco Avenue and J. Panis Street in Barangay Kasambagan.
The facility places vehicle sales and aftersales services at one location. Customers can inspect the available models, arrange test drives and seek financing assistance at the showroom.
Owners can also return to the same branch for scheduled maintenance and repairs.
Its location gives BAIC a physical base in one of the country’s largest automotive markets.
Cebu serves as a business and transport center for the Visayas, while its mix of urban roads and long provincial routes creates steady demand for practical family vehicles and SUVs.
Cebu customers previously had fewer opportunities to examine BAIC models in person or obtain direct service support from the brand.
The dealership addresses both concerns with a permanent showroom and a workshop that can handle the vehicles after delivery.
Five service work bays have been assigned to the branch. Its technicians can perform routine maintenance and repairs, including work on hybrid and electric drivetrains.
Owners will also have access to the wider service network of UAAGI Auto Group, which oversees BAIC operations in the Philippines.
Nearby technical support can help buyers who remain cautious about new-energy vehicles.
Some customers may understand the savings and lower emissions offered by electrified models but still wonder where specialized maintenance will be available.
The Cebu branch gives them a local service point instead of requiring a trip to another region.
Customers can choose from five new-energy SUV variants at the showroom. The lineup includes the BAIC B30e Dune 4x2 and B30e Dune 4x4, which cater to buyers who want a compact electrified SUV with a rugged design.
The larger models include the B40e Trailmaster rEV, B60e Beaumont Hybrid and B60e Beaumont rEV.
The rEV models use a gasoline engine to generate electricity and support the battery, which can ease range concerns during longer trips where charging stations may be less common.
These vehicles enter a Cebu market where SUVs often serve several roles. A single unit may handle weekday drives in the city, family trips during weekends and longer journeys across the province.
Fuel consumption, passenger space and access to service can influence buying decisions as much as styling or equipment.
BAIC Philippines marketing director Cherry May De Los Santos thanked Pacific Autoworld for taking on the brand in Cebu.
She said BAIC plans to introduce more new-energy SUVs in the country over the next year as more Filipino families consider hybrid and electric vehicles.
