  • MISAMIS ORIENTAL — Police responded to a reported online shooting threat targeting Malaybalay City National Science High School in Barangay Aglayan last 5 August, local authorities said.

School principal Pastor Abejuela confirmed that a Grade 7 student received a message on social media messenger warning of a potential shooting scheduled for that day.

The message spread quickly among the student body, triggering concern among parents.

Personnel from the Malaybalay City Police Station deployed to the campus to secure the perimeter and conduct security checks.

School officials did not officially suspend classes, but numerous parents arrived at the campus throughout the day to pick up their children as a precautionary measure.

The police Cybercrime Investigation Unit launched an investigation to trace the origin of the message.

The incident marks the second security threat directed at the school in recent weeks, following an unidentified individual’s bomb threat on 27 July.

Abejuela said the school is maintaining coordination with the Philippine National Police and local barangay public safety officers to secure students and staff.
