The Department of Transportation (DoTr) has extended the Piso Fare Cashback Promo for LRT-2 commuters until the end of August, allowing eligible passengers using select cashless payment cards to continue paying as little as P1 per trip while saving up to P17 per ride.
The extension, made in partnership with Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) and the Social Security System (SSS), follows a national directive to make rail fares more affordable while promoting cashless payments for faster and more convenient travel.
Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said Saturday that the one-month extension would provide additional savings for commuters beyond the original 31 July end date.
“We thank RCBC, SSS and Finance Secretary Frederick Go for extending this P1 fare cashback promo for LRT-2 passengers. It was originally set to end on 31 July, but we were able to extend it until 31 August.”
“This will be a big help to commuters because the money they save on fares can instead be used for other needs, such as school allowances, food or medicines,” Lopez said.
