Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1) seized nearly P5 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 30 suspected drug personalities during a series of anti-illegal drug operations conducted across the Ilocos Region from 22 to 28 July.
According to PRO 1, police carried out 27 anti-illegal drug operations during the week, resulting in the confiscation of illegal drugs with a combined Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P4,995,729.60.
The biggest operation involved a marijuana eradication campaign in Sugpon, Ilocos Sur, led by the 2nd Ilocos Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company. Authorities discovered and destroyed two marijuana plantation sites containing 23,000 fully grown marijuana plants spread across approximately 2,000 square meters of land.
The destroyed marijuana plants were estimated to have a Standard Drug Price of P4.6 million.
In separate operations across the region, police also confiscated 37.66 grams of suspected shabu, 1,147.93 grams of dried marijuana leaves, and 0.63 grams of marijuana kush.
PRO 1 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Jovencio S. Badua Jr. commended the operating units for their sustained efforts in the campaign against illegal drugs.
He said the latest accomplishments demonstrate the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations under the PNP’s Enhanced A.L.E.R.T.O. Framework and reaffirm the police force’s commitment to enforcing drug laws and protecting communities.
