Health Secretary Dr. Jose “Brix” Pujalte Jr. has ordered a department-wide personnel audit and launched an investigation into about 300 Super Health Centers found to be non-operational, unfinished or abandoned despite being reported as completed.
Pujalte, who assumed office on 13 July, issued Department Personnel Order 2026-4726 directing the reassignment and performance evaluation of senior officials at the Department of Health’s central office and regional Centers for Health Development.
The review aims to identify administrative inefficiencies and improve healthcare delivery.
The DoH is also validating the status of 300 Super Health Centers after inspections found that some facilities lacked personnel or equipment, or remained at the foundation stage despite previous reports declaring them operational.
The findings are being reviewed by multiple agencies for possible administrative and legal action.
Pujalte said viable facilities may be converted into Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Service centers or developed through public-private partnerships to expand access to primary healthcare.
The health chief also ordered structural assessments of government hospitals, particularly in Metro Manila and other earthquake-prone areas, to ensure they can remain operational during major disasters.
