Two suspects in the fatal shooting of social media vlogger Alicia Lipata, known online as “Mima Alicia,” were arrested Thursday morning in Pampanga, the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced.

Police Col. Allen Rae Co, chief of the PNP Public Information Office, said in a press briefing at Camp Crame that the alleged gunman identified as alias “MS” and the motorcycle driver identified as alias “GA,” were taken into custody around 8:20 a.m. in Barangay Dau, Mabalacat City, Pampanga.

The arrests were carried out by the Northern Police District’s (NPD) Special Investigation Task Group Mima following follow-up operations.

“They are the same two we saw in the video,” Co said. “They are the same culprits, the same ones who did what the witness says — the two on a motorcycle who stopped and killed alias Mima.”

During the operation, police seized two hand grenades, a 9 mm pistol, and a .45-caliber handgun believed to have been used in the attack. The suspects face charges of murder and illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

Lipata was shot and killed outside her residence in Caloocan City on 17 July by two men riding a motorcycle. Investigators identified the pair within 24 hours of the incident using local CCTV footage and witness descriptions.

While the physical perpetrators are in custody, police suspect others were involved in tracking Lipata’s movements and planning the ambush.

“We are not stopping with the arrest of these two,” Co said, citing that CCTV footage showed suspects arriving minutes before Lipata returned home.

“It points to the fact that there were some other people who were surveilling these movements... There are others who were involved in the planning and carrying out of this killing.”

Co declined to provide further details on the motive or additional suspects, citing ongoing manhunt operations.
