Philippine National Police (PNP) officials have identified two suspects in the fatal shooting of vlogger Alicia Lipata, known online as Mima Alicia, in Caloocan City, police said Tuesday.

PNP public information chief and spokesperson Col. Allen Rae Co declined to reveal the specific identities of the suspects or details about the alleged criminal syndicate behind the attack, citing ongoing operations.

“We’ve identified the suspects behind the killing of the Caloocan City vlogger. Most probably, they are syndicate members or were hired by a syndicate to kill Alicia,” Co told reporters during a chance interview at Camp Crame.

“We’re still profiling them and their previous activities. One of them has multiple prior cases. We are hot on their tracks. We’re still following them now,” he added.

Co said investigators are working to determine whether Lipata’s public statements motivated her killing. Police are coordinating closely with her family for their safety and to prepare criminal charges against the identified suspects.

To recall, Lipata was gunned down 17 July in front of her house in Caloocan City by two men riding a motorcycle.

Neighbors rushed outside after hearing gunshots, found Lipata and her partner, and transported them to a hospital, where Lipata later died.

PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said he expects a comprehensive investigation, specifically focusing on whether the attack was triggered by Lipata’s work as an active political vlogger.

Nartatez tasked the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group to assist the probe by conducting an extensive review of the social media content and posts published across the victim’s online platforms.

He also directed the National Capital Region Police Office to secure Lipata’s partner, who remains hospitalized.

“We extend our deepest sympathy to the family and supporters of the victim,” Nartatez said. “We assure them of the PNP’s commitment to identify and arrest all those responsible in the interest of truth and justice.”
