For bright public high school students across Metro Manila, a classical guitar could be their ticket to national and international stages.
The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) has officially opened applications for Batch 14 of its Kabataang Gitarista (KG) program, offering free weekly classical guitar training to nurture the country’s next generation of musical talent.
Now in its 14th year, the initiative by the CCP Artist Training Division transforms promising Grade 7, 8, and 9 students into skilled performers. Beyond technical mastery, the program builds a dedicated performing ensemble whose members have showcased their talent in outreach concerts, school tours, and high-profile competitions at home and abroad.
Aspiring guitarists must bring their own nylon-stringed guitar and commit to Saturday lessons at the CCP Annex Building alongside regular weekday home practice. Online applications are accepted until 25 August 2026, at 5:00 PM.
Onsite auditions take place on 29 August, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez in the CCP Complex, with walk-in applicants welcomed on the day.
