The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has ended the years-long run of a regional top most wanted person, marking a significant victory in the pursuit of justice for victims of organized crime.
The suspect, a 34-year-old Chinese national and former POGO employee, was apprehended on Friday, 17 July in Barangay Looc, Dumaguete City.
She is wanted for violating the Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 or Republic Act No. 10883.
In 2021, the accused allegedly conspired to steal a Toyota Alphard valued at P2.7 million.
Following the theft, she reportedly demanded a P3 million ransom for the vehicle’s return. After a previous arrest for extortion, the suspect posted bail and immediately went into hiding, effectively evading the reach of the law for years.
With her capture, she is now held at the Dumaguete City Police Station, awaiting a commitment order from the court.
Authorities are currently conducting a deeper background check for other potential criminal liabilities and outstanding warrants.
