  • President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. secured investment commitments for the Philippines' healthcare and digital infrastructure sectors during a series of high-level meetings in Singapore, highlighting efforts to expand medical services, strengthen internet connectivity, and generate more jobs.

After meeting Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Marcos held separate talks with executives of ABC Impact, the Ayala Group, and Temasek Trust, where discussions centered on increasing investments in the country's healthcare sector.

The proposed initiatives include expanding hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and other medical services to improve Filipinos' access to quality healthcare while creating thousands of employment opportunities.

Marcos also met with officials of Singtel Group, which has operated in the Philippines since 1993, as the telecommunications firm expressed plans to further expand its investments in the country's digital infrastructure.

The expansion plans include additional data centers and other digital facilities expected to improve internet connectivity, support economic growth, and create more jobs.

Alongside this, during Marcos’s three-day visit to Singapore, the nations also expressed their support for new bilateral agreements aimed at advancing cooperation between the two countries and reaffirmed their shared commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Furthermore, Wong also congratulated the Philippines on attaining upper-middle-income country status, saying the country's economic progress reflects steady growth despite global uncertainties, including tensions in the Middle East.
