South Korea’s state-owned energy giant, Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO), will develop smart energy systems for New Clark City under a new partnership aimed at turning the emerging metropolis into a hub for high-value industries.
The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and KEPCO solidified the agreement by signing a memorandum of understanding at the BCDA headquarters in Taguig.
The partnership aims to position New Clark City as a key investment destination within the Luzon Economic Corridor by establishing reliable and sustainable power infrastructure.
Under the agreement, both organizations will jointly assess, design, and develop advanced energy systems, leveraging KEPCO’s experience in power generation, transmission, and smart grid deployment.
BCDA officials said the goal is to embed intelligent energy systems into the city’s infrastructure from the ground up, rather than retrofitting capabilities as demand grows.
“As New Clark City continues to attract investments and jobs, our infrastructure must keep pace with the needs of future industries,” BCDA president and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang said.
“Through this partnership with KEPCO, we are laying the foundations for an energy system that is smart, resilient, and sustainable from day one,” he added.
