The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and StB GigaFactory Inc. are exploring renewable energy and electric mobility projects that could strengthen the power infrastructure of New Clark City and other BCDA-managed properties.
The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) covering potential renewable energy generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and e-mobility solutions as part of efforts to develop a cleaner and more resilient energy network.
Under the 12-month agreement, BCDA will provide access to potential project sites, relevant data and administrative support. StB GigaFactory will conduct site assessments, technical feasibility studies and financial modeling to identify viable projects and recommend how clean energy technologies can be deployed.
“Partnering with StB GigaFactory aligns directly with our vision to make New Clark City a model of sustainable, high-tech urban development,” said BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang.
He said integrating energy storage and clean mobility into the city’s development plan would help create resilient infrastructure while supporting industrial growth and environmental protection.
The partnership also builds on StB GigaFactory’s presence at Filinvest Innovation Park in New Clark City. The facility is described as the Philippines’ first manufacturing plant for lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells and BESS.
BCDA said the collaboration could help scale the use of renewable power, energy storage and electric mobility across its developments.
StB GigaFactory has created 500 jobs and plans to expand its workforce to 2,500 by 2030, highlighting the potential economic impact of the emerging clean energy industry.
